Build a First-Draft Sales Presentation Deck with Gemini in Google Slides
For Advertising Sales Agents ·
What This Does
A written recommendation becomes a full slide deck draft, title slide, goals, recommended schedule, and next steps, in a few minutes. You spend your prep time on the client-specific numbers instead of laying out boxes and text.
Before You Start
- You have a Google account with access to Google Slides
- Your account sits on an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan. If your station or publisher pays for Business Standard at $14/user/month, presentation generation is included. Not sure? Look for the Ask Gemini button in the top right of a blank presentation. No button means check with your Workspace admin.
- A written recommendation from the client needs analysis, ready to turn into slide content
- Your rate card figures on hand to drop in after the draft generates. Do not type the station's unpublished discount floor into the prompt box.
Steps
1. Find the AI feature
Go to slides.new for a blank presentation, or open one you already have. Select Ask Gemini in the top right corner. A side panel opens with a prompt box, and the Slides start screen offers a matching Presentation option.
2. Tell it what you need
Describe the deck in the side panel: the client's business type in general terms, the recommended format and schedule, and the tone you want. Select Add sources to pull from a Google Doc or Sheet, your written recommendation works well here, and select Match presentation style if you have a station or publisher deck to brand-match. Gemini may ask a follow-up question before it shows a slide-by-slide outline. Edit any slide title or bullet in that outline. Then select Update plan and Approve.
3. Review and use the result
Keep the tab open while the deck builds. Within a few minutes you get fully editable slides: click into any text box, chart, or layout and change it the normal way. Work through each slide and add the client's real cost estimate, contact name, and schedule dates, since Gemini only knows what you told it.
Real Example
Scenario: You just finished a needs analysis with a three-location auto repair chain, and the pitch meeting is tomorrow morning. You have a written recommendation but no deck.
What you type/do: In a blank presentation, select Ask Gemini and type: "Build an 8-slide media proposal deck for a multi-location auto repair business covering their advertising goals, the recommended schedule mix, and next steps. Match the style of our station sales deck." Add the station's existing sales deck as a style source, adjust the outline, and approve it.
What you get: An 8-slide draft with a title slide, a goals slide, a recommended-schedule slide, and a next-steps slide in your station's fonts and colors. From there you drop in the auto repair chain's actual cost estimate and contact details.
Tips
- Need to fix just one section of an existing deck? Generate a single slide instead of a whole new one. Open Ask Gemini on that slide and describe it. Then pick Insert or Replace from the dropdown next to the preview.
- Fix the outline before you approve it. Correcting a plan takes seconds; correcting eight finished slides takes longer.
- Keep the unpublished rate card discount out of the prompt entirely. Add only the client-facing price once the deck exists.
Tool interfaces change. If a button has moved, look for similar AI/magic/smart options in the same menu area.
